History The American Kennel Club registered it in 1893 as the first species with american origin. In 1922 a Boston Terrier, called Rhett, became the mascot of the Boston University. It was appointed as the „dog of Massachusetts” in 1979.
The Boston Terrier was getting popular all over the world, while it was becoming a pet dog from a fighting dog. This „white tie gentleman” was bred from bullterrier, english and french bulldog and has boxers among its ancestors as well. The patriarch of Boston Terrier was a dog called Judge. The grandson of Judge, Barnard’s Tom was the first geniune Boston Terrier.
